(+/-)-Metanephrine hydrochloride is a metabolite and naturally occurring derivative of Epinephrine. Metanepharines have been determined to be secreted in excess along with catecholamines in pheochromocytomas. rac Metanephrine Hydrochloride Salt has been used to develop an online solid-phase extraction coupled with HPLC-tandem mass spectrometric detection method for the concentration of metanephrine in free plasma. The compound has also been used to block α-adrenoceptors.
