Agoelatine (BAN, rINN; trade naes Valdoxan, elitor, Thyanax) is a elatonergic antidepressant developed by the pharaceutical copany Servier. It is areted for the treatent of ajor depressive disorder and has been reported to not produce discontinuation syndroe and have no sexual side effects copared to SSRIs, SNRIs and the older tricyclic antidepressants. Agoelatine ay also have positive effects on sleep. Agoelatine is a elatonergic agonist (T1 and T2 receptors) and 5-HT2C antagonist. Binding studies indicate that it has no effect on onoaine uptae and no affinity for α, β adrenergic, histainergic, cholinergic, dopainergic and benzodiazepine receptors.
